Literature is literally "acquaintance with letters" as in the first sense given in the Oxford English Dictionary (from the Latin littera meaning "an individual written character (letter)"). The term has generally come to identify a collection of texts or work of art, which in Western culture are mainly prose, both fiction and non-fiction, drama and poetry. In much, if not all of the world, texts can be oral as well, and include such genres as epic, legend, myth, ballad, other forms of oral poetry, and the folktale.

Based on the explanation above we can take some decision that literature is very important because we can learn more about literature as work of art, we can analize the content of kinds of literature such mentioned above. Thus, student can apply in learning process

feel when I make a kind of literature like poerty and short story.maybe
is bad for others people but it is the most wonderfull for me and I
fell I have new word.

For me literature is important in my life. I like reading everything
about literary. And I always write about anything that happen in my life
on my diary. Because in literary we can know about social life. About
anything that happen in our environment. From read Novel, cerpen,
feature, Poetry, we can know the feelings of people. Or we can add our
experience. And we can know about culture of other countries.
Do You know Mam? Now I try to make A novel about me and also my friends
in English Department. I hope I can finish it in April 2007.

Literature gives a great meaning in my life.I can
learn much about What life is actually. Lierature is the medium to
share all aspect of my feeling. I also can catch the way of thinking of
somebody (writers) and take their massages through their writing
:prose,poetry,novel,vabel,etc.
